Children love to help. The want to feel important, they love to be a part of what their parents do. Our "teacher's helper" position could be any miscellaneous tasks. It could also be called "administration assistant", "helper", or "assistant".
What we do:
The teacher's helper responsibilities:
This can be anything really!
Lead the prayer at meals.
Sharpen pencils.
Decide learning topics.
Get out books, learning supplies.
Preschoolers can:
Help make simple decisions, like where to eat out.
Get diapers or books, whatever is needed.
Choose outings.
As they get older:
Prepare charts, worksheets.
Do research.
Teach when appropriate.
Choose experiments, lead.
How we make this fun:
Let them take the lead when appropriate.
Involve her, learn her preferences, work together.
Trust her with simple things. Let it grow into bigger responsibilities.
Character building:
Building leadership and serving skills.
