Astronomer

One of my favorite places to be is watching the stars come out on a clear country night---but when we are in the city, stars are not as easily seen. The moon is much more visible.

What we do:

The responsibilities of the astronomer:
In charge of a monthly calandar.
Draw the shapes of the moon on the calandar to see the cycle of the moon.
Spot constellations.

The preschooler can:
Identify the shapes of the moon- full, crescent, half, etc.
Draw it.
Identify the dates on the calandar.

As they get older:
Study constellations- the night sky.
Which constellations are seen what time of the year.
Plan events on the calandar- write it out.
(We use a dry erase calandar)
Identify birthdays and special events each month.

How we make it fun:
Learn constellations together.
Spot stars coming out.
Talk about how beautiful the sky is.
Plan special events on the calandar.

Character building:
Appreciation for the universe.
Appreciation for holidays and birthdays.
